Tests are an examination to check a person’s proficiency and knowledge. Some students have different opinions on these exams, for example, it can be a heavy stress factor that place burdens on one's shoulder. On one hand, tests are understandable, reasonable, and getting good grades is like water off a duck’s back. On the other, getting good grades is compared to trying to get blood out of a stone. Some people try their best, but some just faces it with a nonchalant attitude.
The main purpose of examinations is overlooked. Tests are always formed to be this epitome of stress and hard work and the process tends to make students hot under the collar. Most judge tests by the process of preparation for it and the negative effects that they can inflict on a student, but most do not take its purpose into account. Tests are there to check a student’s understanding and development of a certain subject that will be useful and applicable to their future. They assist teachers and instructors in knowing what is learned and what is not. It informs them so that they can aid the students and help them improve. These quizzes also reduce procrastination, and it provides them a better sense of discipline and a good organization of what they had learnt. When the graders are assessing your work, they know what you are skilled at and in this way, you are able to identify what you are best in, which will help you choose your future career. Tests are there to help you, not to cause you stress or despair. It simply depends on the way you look at it. If you are having an upcoming paper, do your best and forget the rest. Doing well should not be considered as a velleity and should not be ignored. All the best and never give up!
This is a question one will ask themselves: “I did my best but yet I failed.” It is not my fault; it is the test paper which caused me anxiety and failure. As a student, I succumb to that excuse every time and I do feel the tight ropes of anxiety and tensity that never seems to go away. Even worse, like all students, they tighten during the examination. The thing about tests is it is influential, and it is important, nonetheless. This is what strives students to cheat. They must cheat because of the educational pressure and high expectations that they set the bar to for themselves. After all, it does not value or prioritize creativity neither diversity nor the paper with printed questions is not serviceable in the future. Besides, there are so many alternatives to tests! A simple presentation, a short but knowledgeable discussion and even homework are much better. If so, why do we need tests.
Regardless of the disadvantages that tests can bring, remember that it is also a great way for you to have strength and resilience and it will prepare you for the challenges that you need the power to overcome. Value the sheets of paper that lie before you as some children do not even get to have it. Education is still a key to success.
As a common saying goes,
“Exams and grades are temporary, but education is permanent.”
